About This Service

When your AC goes out in the middle of a Dallas July, you need it fixed fast. When your heater stops blowing warm air on a January morning, you need answers. Our climate control technicians are trained and equipped to diagnose and repair every part of your vehicle HVAC system. We use professional-grade refrigerant recovery and charging equipment, UV leak detection dye, and electronic leak detectors to find problems that other shops miss. We do not just add refrigerant and hope for the best — we find and fix the actual leak so it stays cold.

What's Included

Every ac & heating repair service at DallasAutoCarePros is thorough and transparent. Here is exactly what you get.

1

AC Performance Test

We measure vent temperature, compressor operation, system pressures, and airflow volume. This tells us immediately if the system is undercharged, overcharged, has a restriction, or has a component failure.

2

Leak Detection

We use UV dye, electronic sniffers, and visual inspection to find refrigerant leaks. Common leak points include the condenser, evaporator, compressor shaft seal, O-rings, and Schrader valves.

3

Refrigerant Recharge

We recover all existing refrigerant, vacuum the system to remove moisture, and recharge with the exact amount specified by your manufacturer. Proper charge level is critical for efficient cooling.

4

Compressor Service

If the compressor clutch is slipping, the compressor is noisy, or it is not building proper pressure, we can repair or replace it. Compressor replacement includes a new receiver/drier and expansion valve to prevent repeat failure.

5

Heater Core & Blend Door

If your heater is not producing warm air, the cause is usually a clogged heater core, stuck blend door actuator, or low coolant level. We diagnose the exact cause and repair it.

Warning Signs to Watch For

If you notice any of these symptoms, bring your vehicle in as soon as possible. Early attention prevents expensive repairs.

AC blows warm or lukewarm air instead of cold
AC works intermittently — cold sometimes, warm other times
Weak airflow from the vents even at full blast
Strange sweet smell from the vents (possible coolant leak into heater core)
Puddle of water on the passenger floorboard (clogged condensate drain or heater core leak)
Compressor makes clicking, grinding, or squealing noises when AC turns on
Heater does not blow warm air or takes a very long time to warm up
AC system cycles on and off rapidly (short cycling)

Our AC & Heating Repair Process

Here is exactly what happens when you bring your vehicle in for ac & heating repair service.

01

Performance Test

We check vent temperatures, compressor operation, system pressures on both high and low sides, and airflow volume. This baseline tells us where to focus the diagnosis.

02

Leak & Component Testing

We use UV dye detection, electronic leak sniffers, and visual inspection to identify the source of any leak. We test compressor clutch engagement, expansion valve operation, and blower motor function.

03

Repair & Recharge

We repair or replace the failed component, then recover any remaining refrigerant, pull a deep vacuum on the system to remove moisture, and recharge with the exact factory specification amount.

04

Verify & Road Test

We verify vent temperatures reach specification (typically 38-45 degrees at the center vent), check for proper compressor cycling, and ensure the system holds pressure before releasing the vehicle.

AC & Heating Repair FAQ

Common questions about ac & heating repair service. Have a question not listed here? Call us at (214) 555-0187.

Why does my AC blow cold then warm?

Intermittent cooling is usually caused by a system that is low on refrigerant due to a slow leak. When the refrigerant level drops below a certain point, the low-pressure switch cuts the compressor off to protect it. It may also be caused by a failing compressor clutch, a sticking expansion valve, or a cycling pressure switch. A proper diagnosis will pinpoint which component is causing the intermittent behavior.

Can I just add refrigerant myself?

The cans of refrigerant sold at auto parts stores will temporarily mask the problem, but they also add sealant chemicals and often result in overcharging the system. Overcharging reduces cooling performance and can damage the compressor. More importantly, if you have a leak, the refrigerant will just leak out again. A proper repair finds and fixes the leak so the system stays cold for years, not days.

How much does AC repair typically cost?

It depends entirely on the problem. A simple recharge after a minor leak repair might be $150 to $300. A compressor replacement typically runs $600 to $1,200 depending on the vehicle. An evaporator replacement is the most expensive common repair at $800 to $1,800 because it requires removing the dashboard. We always diagnose first and give you a clear estimate before starting any repair.

Why does my car have a sweet smell inside?

A sweet, syrupy smell is almost always engine coolant leaking through the heater core into the cabin. The heater core is a small radiator inside the dashboard. When it develops a leak, coolant sprays as a fine mist onto the inside of the windshield and you will smell it. This needs immediate attention because it will eventually cause overheating and the coolant is toxic.
