About This Service

Electrical problems are the number one reason vehicles get passed from shop to shop without a fix. The symptoms are often intermittent — a light that works sometimes, a window that sticks occasionally, or a car that will not start on random mornings. Many shops lack the diagnostic equipment or electrical expertise to trace these faults efficiently. At DallasAutoCarePros, our technicians are trained in automotive electrical diagnosis, equipped with professional-grade multimeters, oscilloscopes, and wiring diagrams, and experienced in the systematic approach needed to find and fix electrical problems the first time.

What's Included

Every auto electrical repair service at DallasAutoCarePros is thorough and transparent. Here is exactly what you get.

1

Battery Testing & Replacement

We perform a comprehensive battery load test that measures cold cranking amps, reserve capacity, and internal resistance. If your battery is failing, we install a new one with the correct group size and CCA rating for your vehicle.

2

Alternator & Charging System

We test alternator output voltage and amperage under load, check the drive belt condition and tension, and verify voltage regulator operation. A failing alternator will eventually kill your battery and leave you stranded.

3

Starter Motor Service

Slow cranking, clicking without starting, or intermittent no-start conditions are often caused by a worn starter motor, faulty solenoid, or corroded connections. We test the entire starter circuit before recommending replacement.

4

Wiring Diagnosis & Repair

We trace electrical faults using wiring diagrams, multimeters, and oscilloscopes. We repair damaged wiring, replace corroded connectors, and fix improper previous repairs that cause intermittent problems.

5

Module Programming & Updates

Some electrical repairs require module replacement and reprogramming. We have the equipment to flash and program control modules for most domestic and import vehicles.

Warning Signs to Watch For

If you notice any of these symptoms, bring your vehicle in as soon as possible. Early attention prevents expensive repairs.

Vehicle will not start — you hear clicking, slow cranking, or nothing at all
Headlights are dimmer than normal, especially at idle
Battery warning light or alternator light is on
Electrical accessories work intermittently — windows, locks, radio, lights
Burning smell from the electrical system or a fuse keeps blowing
Dashboard warning lights flickering or coming on without reason
Battery keeps dying overnight or after sitting for a short period
Corrosion visible on battery terminals or cable ends

Our Auto Electrical Repair Process

Here is exactly what happens when you bring your vehicle in for auto electrical repair service.

01

System-Level Test

We start with a full charging system analysis — battery load test, alternator output, and parasitic draw measurement. This tells us immediately if the core electrical infrastructure is healthy.

02

Circuit Diagnosis

For specific component failures, we use wiring diagrams to identify every connection in the circuit, then test voltage, ground, and continuity at each point to isolate the fault location.

03

Repair & Verify

We repair or replace the failed component. For wiring repairs, we use proper soldering, heat-shrink, and weatherproof connectors — not electrical tape. For module replacements, we program and configure as needed.

04

System Re-Test

After repair, we retest the entire circuit to verify the fix, check for related issues, and clear any diagnostic codes. We road test the vehicle to confirm the repair holds under real driving conditions.

Auto Electrical Repair FAQ

Common questions about auto electrical repair service. Have a question not listed here? Call us at (214) 555-0187.

How do I know if my battery or alternator is the problem?

A simple test: if you jump-start the car and it runs fine but dies as soon as you remove the cables or turn off the engine, the alternator is likely not charging. If it starts fine after a jump and stays running, the battery probably cannot hold a charge. However, a proper load test of both components is the only way to know for certain. We test both for free as part of our electrical diagnosis.

Why does my car battery keep dying?

The three most common causes are: a battery that is too old or internally damaged to hold a charge (most batteries last 3-5 years in Dallas heat), an alternator that is not keeping the battery charged while driving, or a parasitic draw — something staying on when the car is off and slowly draining the battery. We can test for all three of these in about 30 minutes.

What is a parasitic draw?

A parasitic draw is electrical current flowing from the battery when the vehicle should be completely off. A small amount (under 50 milliamps) is normal — it keeps your radio presets, clock, and security system alive. A draw above 50mA indicates something is staying on that should not be. Common culprits include aftermarket accessories, trunk or glove box lights, and failing control modules. We use a systematic process of pulling fuses to isolate which circuit is causing the draw.

Can you fix wiring problems on older vehicles?

Absolutely. Older vehicles often develop wiring issues from age, heat damage, rodent chewing, and corrosion. We can trace and repair wiring faults on vehicles of any age. We carry a wide range of connectors, terminals, and wiring supplies and always repair to OEM standards with proper soldering, heat-shrink tubing, and weatherproof connections.
